Dear Friends,

As we enter our second decade of helping children in remote regions of China to attend school, it’s worth taking some time to reflect on where this journey began and where our future goals may lead us.  As many of you already know, the Foundation began helping its first child in 2008 and in that first year we assisted a total of eleven children with room and board expenses so that they could attend school that was otherwise too far over rugged mountain roads for them to travel to and from on a daily basis.  Since then we have grown to supporting roughly 40 students each year, ranging from elementary school through university.  We continue to focus on helping children who have experienced the loss of one or more parent since these children are generally in the greatest need of our support.

Over the past few years, we have begun seeing more of our students graduate from university and embark on careers that will change their lives and the lives of their family, and which would not have been possible without support from the Foundation.  So thank you all for the support you have given us.

We are currently still relying primarily on donations from all of you as well as proceeds from our Chinese Dinner Fundraiser in the summer.  As we look to the future, our primary focus will be on continuing to support our existing students for as long as they are in school, while also looking for additional opportunities to raise funds so that we can help even more children.  In addition, since most of the Children supported by the foundation have lost one or both of their parents and in many cases share similar life experiences, we are working towards developing community support networks comprised of past and present students supported by the Foundation, so that they can offer support and guidance to each other as they encounter challenges throughout their adolescence and into adulthood.

Again, I thank you all for your continued support.  What we are doing truly makes a difference in the lives of these children and will have a positive effect on not only their lives, but future generations as well.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Avise, President
